Aksel Jensen

In 1995 Kunsthallen Brandts in Odense held a big retrospektive exhibition of the painter Aksel Jensen from Saltofte next to Assens on Funen. The 81-year-old painter was relatively unknown outside Funen, but the exhibition opened the eyes of the Danish public for his simple poetic paintings of people i everyday life situations. Suddenly he gained great recognition, acceptance in the "Blue Book" as the oldest of all time, reception of the Eckersberg's medal and acceptance in the association of artists "Corner". In 2005 we portray Aksel Jensen while following his work with a particular painting, the Pale Blue Water, in his intimate studio in Saltofte. We get an insight into the late painter's considerations about art and truth, his love for nature and poetry.
