Fay Weldon grew up in New Zealand under poor circumstances together with her mum and her two sisters. They did not have a lot of money and as time passed by Fay noticed the discrimination between rich and poor in society. This consideration became the key driver behind the famous and successful tv play UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS.
